Built in the 17th century, James I’s Queen, Anne of Denmark, commissioned Inigo Jones to design and build thissplendid building. Inspired by the Italian palaces and villas of the Palladio, the Queen’s House was the first classical building of its type to be built in England. But, unfortunately, Queen Anne died before it was finished and it was not completed until 1638 for Henrietta Maria, wife of Charles I. It became known as the ‘House of Delight’ after Queen Henrietta Maria, hosted many luxurious and splendid parties.

In the 21st century, it now provides the perfect venue for both civil marriage ceremonies and wedding receptions.

The Orangery and other rooms can host up to 50 guests for ceremonies, and receptions for up to 120 guests. The Orangery over looks London’s oldest Royal Park and up to the world- renowned Royal Observatory. A luxurious setting for your wedding photography.

Enjoy your wedding breakfast as husband and wife in the Queen’s House Great Hall. The Great Hall can seat up to 120 guests. The original black and white marble floor and view of the River Thames, which was preserved by royal decree since the 17th century, makes for a great backdrop for you speeches.

Continue your party with dancing to the music of your DJ or band in the vaulted Undercroft, formerly the Treasury which is directly beneath the Great Hall.
